Route
The start and finish of the practice is in the marina in Phuket. The route is free and is planned by the crew together with the instructor.
What will you learn
*Note: A student of this course is expected to have excellent command of all skills and knowledge related to the course. Yacht Crew ISSA (or identical in other learning systems) completed earlier.
- Navigation and cartography.
- Calculation of the total compass error.
- Observation techniques (methods of calculation and observed positions).
- General information of the Mercator map.
- Characteristics of lighthouses and navigational signs.
- Plotting a route and working with sailing directions.
- COLREGs-72.
- Tidal waters (tables, almanacs, calculation rules, atlases of currents and diamonds).
- VHF radio communication and use of half-duplex station;
- Basics of Maritime English using the phonetic alphabet.
- Introduction to synoptic meteorology and weather forecast analysis.
- Yacht control under motor and sails.
- All major ship maneuvers, including MOV.
- Practical mooring skills.
- Organization of the ship's crew work, keeping a logbook, planning watches and actions in emergency situations. General planning of sea passages at any time and in weather conditions up to 6 points on the Beaufort scale.
- Interaction with representatives of charter companies and port services. Analysis of insurance and non-insurance cases.
According to ISSA standards, this certificate entitles its holder to operate a sailing and motor vessel up to 24 meters long during the day and night at a distance of 20 nautical miles from the shore and in winds of up to 27 nautical knots.
